The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt in Germany in cooperation with proMENTE social research and external consultant prof. dr. Maida Koso-Drljević (Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo, Department of Psychology) continues research on the psychosocial consequences of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The research was carried out in 2 time points: in the period 1998/1999 and 2009/2010. The aim of this study is to examine current life circumstances, negative consequences and/or growth processes caused by traumatic experiences. Also, the aim of this study is to estimate the prevalence of traumatic events during the lifetime, the current prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder, and to examine the relationship between the development of post-traumatic stress disorder and different types of traumatic events. The results of this research provide insight into how people who survived the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina function, and help to identify forms of help and support for survivors in dealing with difficulties that are a consequence of the war experience.
