In B&H prevails low level of interest in civic involvement in politics and civic engagement. In a situation where young generation is leaving and working age population is trapped, the elderly generation represents untapped potential for civic engagement. They are relatively free from political pressure and possess higher potential to contribute to social cohesion since their generation experienced life in a more inclusive society. Therefore, Open Society Fund wanted to explore possibilities and forms of engagement of the elderly people in public life as neglected resource for strengthening democracy. The research was supposed to give insight into the interest and opportunities for civic engagement of older people and find a potential direction for its strengthening in BiH. The research has been conducted with 60+ years old people in Canton Sarajevo. Total 208 participants filled out a questionnaire and 51 participated in focus groups.
